DESCRIPTION

The Brisbane Balconette Set by @madeby.rosh is a made-to-measure swimwear knitting pattern that brings the fit and support of a balconette bra to knitted swimwear.

The knitted top features individually shaped cups, delicate i-cord straps and a back closure for a clean, structured silhouette. It can be made with or without underwires. For extra support, reuse the underwires from a favourite bra that already fits you beautifully, or choose a pair that suits your shape and incorporate them directly into the knitted cups.

Designed around your body rather than standard sizing, the Brisbane Balconette starts with your own measurements and a knitted swatch. Simply enter them into the spreadsheet included with the pattern to calculate the stitch and row counts for your individual fit.

The pattern also offers several ways to customise the silhouette. Choose your preferred bikini bottom coverage and rise, and take the design from bikini to tankini depending on the fit and coverage you want.

The version shown is knitted in Contrepoint® Air N.1 in Coral Red, our highly elastic swimwear yarn. Quick-drying and designed to retain its shape in water, it is also resistant to UV and chlorine — ideal for a bikini made to be worn, not just seen.

SIZING

The Brisbane Balconette Set is a made-to-measure bikini knitting pattern, so there are no standard S, M or L sizes to choose from.

For the top, the custom sizing spreadsheet takes into account your bust and underbust measurements, as well as the height and width of each breast. For the bottoms, measurements include your waist, hips, rise and gusset width.

These estimates are based on the Contrepoint® Air N.1 version knitted on 4.5 mm needles. Exact yarn requirements will vary depending on your measurements, gauge and chosen customisations; the spreadsheet included with the pattern provides a personalised estimate.

These yarn estimates apply specifically to Contrepoint® Air N.1. Substituting another yarn will affect the quantity required, as well as the fit, elasticity and performance of the finished bikini.

Refer to the Sizing section above for estimated yarn requirements. Exact quantities are calculated from your measurements and gauge using the custom sizing spreadsheet included with the pattern.

Needles:

US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles for the main fabric.
For the i-cord edges and straps, use needles 2–3 US sizes smaller than your main needles.
Smaller needles are also recommended for the waistband and leg openings to ensure a secure fit.

Other tools:
A back closure, stitch markers, tapestry needle, measuring tape, scrap yarn or stitch holders, scissors and a scale.

Optional for extra support: underwires and a suitable channel to encase them. You can reuse underwires from a bra that fits you well or choose your own.

CARE

Hand wash in cold water. Dry flat. Do not iron.
